Privacy policy

SolarCobber is an independent directory of Australian solar installation companies. This page explains what information we hold and what we do with it. It is written in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.

What we collect

• Business listing submissions. If you submit a business through our listing form, we collect the business details you provide, including a contact name, email address and phone number, so we can verify and publish the listing.
• Emails you send us. If you contact us we keep the message and your address so we can reply and track corrections.
• Basic analytics. Our host records standard request data such as page requested, approximate location, referrer and device type. We use it to understand which pages are useful. We do not use it to build a profile of you.

Company information in the directory

Directory entries describe businesses, not private individuals. They are compiled from publicly available sources such as company websites and public business listings, together with details submitted by the businesses themselves. Ratings and review counts are aggregated public figures.

We do not publish an accreditation status for any company. If you are checking credentials, verify them yourself with Solar Accreditation Australia for individual installers and the New Energy Tech Consumer Code for retailers.

What we do not do

• We do not sell personal information.
• We do not sell or trade your contact details to installers.
• We do not accept payment for a listing, a ranking, or the removal of criticism.

Corrections and removal

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for a listing to be removed. Email hello@solarcobber.com and tell us which listing or message you mean. We action removal requests from a business about its own listing without argument.

Third parties

The site is hosted on Vercel and its data is stored with Neon. Both process data on our behalf. Outbound links to installers, regulators and news sources are governed by those sites' own policies, not this one.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page.
