We shortlisted companies from search results, review platforms (Google, ProductReview, SolarQuotes, Trustindex), industry sources such as SunWiz volume rankings, and our own directory, then verified from each company’s own website that it installs on the Sunshine Coast.
We weighed eight factors: reputation and years operating, equipment quality, installation model, pricing signals, warranty terms, customer service, review volume and consistency, and after-sales support. We used no scoring formula, because the inputs are not uniform enough to make one honest.
Sources were company websites, accreditation records (installer accreditation moved from the Clean Energy Council to Solar Accreditation Australia in 2024; retailers are approved under the New Energy Tech Consumer Code), and public customer reviews. Choosing a Solar Company on the Sunshine Coast
Check accreditation first. Your installer must hold Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) accreditation for the STC rebate to apply, and a New Energy Tech approved seller adds consumer-code protections. Verify both rather than trusting a logo.
Ask who is on the roof. The Coast has a strong owner-operator scene from Caloundra to Noosa, plus Brisbane firms selling in. Neither is automatically better, but workmanship accountability follows whether the quote uses employees or subcontractors.
Factor in salt air. Beachfront and canal-front homes at Caloundra, Mooloolaba, Coolum and Noosa need panels with strong salt-mist certification and corrosion-resistant racking. Ask whether the racking warranty holds near the surf.
Know your network. The Sunshine Coast sits on the Energex distribution network. Your installer lodges the connection application, and export limits on standard single-phase connections mean sizing should follow Energex rules, not just roof space.

Typical quality 6.6kW systems in Queensland land roughly between $5,500 and $9,000 installed after the STC rebate; 10kW systems commonly $8,000 to $13,000. Batteries around 13.5kWh typically add $9,000 to $15,000 before the federal battery discount.
How many quotes should I get? Three: a local owner-operator, a larger local retailer, and an outside firm for benchmarking. Normalise quotes by panel and inverter model, not just system size.
