We shortlisted from installation volume data, manufacturer certified-installer lists, industry awards and review platforms, keeping only companies with verifiable battery credentials such as Powerwall certification, multi-brand ranges, VPP capability or off-grid accreditation. Each was assessed on reputation and years operating, equipment quality and brand range, installation model, pricing signals, warranty terms, customer service and after-sales review themes.
Sources were company websites, Solar Accreditation Australia and New Energy Tech approved seller records, SolarQuotes, ProductReview and Google review patterns, and published pricing, with ratings approximate as of July 2026. We requested no quotes, conducted no visits or interviews, and no company paid for placement. Where a fact could not be verified, we said so.
Choosing a solar battery installer in Australia
Check accreditation first. Installer accreditation moved from the Clean Energy Council to Solar Accreditation Australia in 2024, and the retailer you sign with should be a New Energy Tech approved seller. Both registers are searchable and both matter for rebates.
Confirm rebate handling. The Cheaper Home Batteries Program discounts eligible batteries of 5kWh to 100kWh (up to 50kWh usable discounted) installed with new or existing solar. The battery and its inverter must be VPP-capable, though joining a VPP is optional, and the discount steps down over time, so quotes should state the rebate value and date assumptions. Ask who is on your roof. In-house crews (like PSC Energy’s) give consistent quality; subcontractor models (like Solargain’s) vary crew by crew. Get the answer in writing.

Weigh warranties properly. Ten-year battery product warranties are standard. Workmanship warranties range from 5 to 15 years and matter more, because installation faults are what actually strand you.
Check DNSP rules early. Your network distributor (Ausgrid, Energex, SA Power Networks and so on) sets export limits and approval timeframes that affect design and VPP participation.

How many quotes should I get? Three is the practical minimum: a battery specialist, a multi-brand installer and one alternative. Identical hardware can vary by thousands of dollars between quotes.
Are cheap battery installers safe? Sometimes, but a badly installed battery is a fire and compliance risk. Never trade away SAA accreditation, a named battery model or a written backup-circuit scope to save money.
How do I check an installer is legitimate? Check the Solar Accreditation Australia register, New Energy Tech approved seller status and their state electrical licence, then read their worst reviews, not their best.
What if the installer goes bust? Manufacturer warranties survive and are claimed with the maker’s Australian office. Workmanship warranties usually die with the company, a real argument for established firms.
