This guide reviews six companies that install in Rockhampton: EcoSmart Solar, Swann’s Solar & Electrical, Climatecare Electrical & Solar (Solargain Rockhampton), Reef Solar & Electrical, Solahart Rockhampton and CRM CQ Solar. We compared years operating, installation model, published equipment, warranties, pricing signals, Google ratings and review patterns.
This is independent desk research based on company websites, review platforms, Google Maps rating data, published pricing and the Queensland Competition Authority’s tariff determination. How We Reviewed
We built a long list from Google Maps searches for solar installers and solar panels around Rockhampton, Google search results, SolarQuotes listings and our Queensland installer directory. We kept companies with evidence on their own websites that they install residential solar in Rockhampton. We then compared reputation and years operating, equipment and brand range, installation model (in-house or subcontracted, where disclosed), pricing signals, warranties, review volume and patterns, and after-sales support.
Sources were company websites and package flyers, SolarQuotes listings, Google Maps rating data collected in October 2026 and the Queensland Competition Authority’s 2026-27 determination. We did not request quotes, contact companies or inspect installations, and no company paid for placement. Facts we could not verify are marked “not published”.
Choosing a Solar Company in Rockhampton
Check accreditation yourself. Installer accreditation moved from the Clean Energy Council to Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) in 2024, and retailers sign up to the New Energy Tech Consumer Code. Check the installer on the SAA register and the retailer on the CEC approved retailer list. A logo on a website is not proof.
Know the Ergon feed-in tariff. Rockhampton is on the Ergon Energy network. The Queensland Competition Authority sets a flat regional feed-in tariff each year: 6.006c per kWh from 1 July 2026, down 31 per cent from 8.660c in 2025-26. The QCA warns it changes every year. At that rate, using your own solar is worth far more than exporting it. Our feed-in tariff tracker compares states.
Ask about export limits. Ergon approves every connection, and single-phase homes commonly face an export limit. Ask what limit the design assumes and who lodges the application.
Engineer for storms. Cyclone Marcia hit Rockhampton and Yeppoon in 2015. Ask for written confirmation that racking is certified for the wind region at your address. EcoSmart and Swann’s both publish cyclone-rated racking.
In-house or subcontracted. EcoSmart and Climatecare say they use their own employees. Ask everyone else who will be on your roof.
Get three warranty numbers. Panel product (25 years is now common), inverter (usually 10 years) and workmanship (10 years is the benchmark). None of the six publishes a workmanship term, so insist it appears on the quote.
Rebates. The federal STC discount applies upfront, and the Cheaper Home Batteries Program has cut battery prices since July 2025. Queensland offers no general state solar rebate on top.
Compare like for like. Get three quotes with named components (how to compare quotes). For more options, see our top Queensland installers and the full directory.
FAQ
How much does solar cost in Rockhampton?
As of October 2026, Rockhampton installers that published prices on SolarQuotes listed about $6,500 to $7,000 for a 6.6kW system after the STC discount. Premium panels, three-phase homes and batteries cost more.
Is solar worth it with a 6c feed-in tariff?
Usually, if you use the power yourself. Run air conditioning, pool pumps and hot water during the day, and get quotes with and without a battery.
How many quotes should I get?
Three, for example a Rockhampton-based installer, Reef or another high-review regional firm, and one national-brand dealer, all quoting the same size with named components.
Which warranty matters most?
The workmanship warranty, because roof leaks and loose connections are the most common real faults. Then the inverter warranty.
Are cheap installers safe?
Only if the quote names quality components, carries a written workmanship warranty and comes from an approved retailer. A cheap quote with unnamed panels and a fly-in crew is risky.
What if my installer goes out of business?
Manufacturer warranties survive if the brand has an Australian office. The workmanship warranty usually does not, which is why years in business matter.
Should I add a battery now?
The federal discount steps down over time and the feed-in tariff has fallen, so batteries are more attractive than before. They pay back only if you use enough power after dark.
What are the red flags in a quote?
No named models, no mention of Ergon approval or export limits, no wind-rating for racking, a verbal-only warranty, a deposit above about 10 per cent, and same-day pressure.
