The 8 Best Solar Installers in Bunbury for 2026

This guide is for households in Bunbury, Australind, Eaton, Dalyellup and the wider South West, out to Busselton and Dunsborough, who want solar or a battery and need to know who to call first. We compared eight companies that install here: Solartech Electrical, Green Wave Solar, NIXON, South West Solar Force, Solahart South West, Austral Energy Solutions, SAE Group and Positive Off-Grid Solutions.

Each was assessed on track record, reviews, equipment, warranty and installation model. This is independent desk research based on company websites, public review data, accreditation statements, government scheme pages and published pricing. We did not visit any company, request quotes or speak to staff, and no company paid to be included.

By the end you will know who to call first, the trade-offs, and how WA’s rebates and export rates affect your numbers.

Best Overall: Solartech Electrical

Solartech Electrical is the strongest all-round choice for Bunbury itself. It is a Picton-based electrical contractor run by owner James Robinson, it states its installers are in-house with “no subbies”, and it holds 5.0 stars from roughly 118 Google reviews as of October 2026.

Pros

  • In-house installers, per the company, so the crew on your roof works for the business you paid
  • Clear battery tiers on known brands: Sungrow SBR, BYD HVM and SolarEdge

Cons

  • No workmanship warranty length published, so you cannot compare it with rivals before the sales call
  • Panel and inverter brands are not named in text, so ask for datasheets

Praise and complaints. Praise for prompt service; the small, unverified review count holds it back.

Best for / look elsewhere. Best for buyers who value long written cover. Look elsewhere for Fronius or SolarEdge inverters.

Others We Considered

Solargain South West (Busselton, 4.8 stars from about 53 Google reviews) and MaxSolar (Vasse, advertises a 10-year workmanship warranty) are also worth a quote near Busselton.

How We Reviewed

We built a long list from Google Maps, Google search, SolarQuotes, ProductReview and our own directory, then confirmed from each website that the company installs in the South West. We weighed reputation, experience, equipment, installation model, pricing, warranty, customer service, reviews and after-sales support, using sources checked in October 2026. We did not request quotes, contact companies or inspect installations, and no company paid for placement.

Choosing a Solar Company in Bunbury

Check accreditation yourself. Installer accreditation moved from the Clean Energy Council to Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) in 2024. Check the retailer on the Clean Energy Council approved retailer list and the installer on the SAA register. Our installer checklist covers the rest.

Understand Synergy’s export payments. Bunbury is on the South West Interconnected System, so Synergy pays for exports under the Distributed Energy Buyback Scheme (DEBS). The WA Government lists 10c per kWh from 3pm to 9pm and 2c at other times, on up to 50kWh a day. The WA Government also says DEBS applies to systems of 500W to 5kW generating capacity (a 6.6kW array on a 5kVA inverter counts as 5kW), so ask Synergy how a bigger system will be paid before upsizing.

Know the May 2026 rule changes. From 1 May 2026, Energy Policy WA allows standard connections up to 30kVA of inverter capacity, a big jump for single-phase homes. New and upgraded systems must support remote disconnection by your retailer (emergency solar management) or be export limited to 1.5kW.

Use the WA Residential Battery Scheme properly. For batteries installed from 1 July 2025, Synergy customers can get up to $1,300 (Horizon Power customers up to $3,800), with up to 10kWh of usable capacity counted and a 5kWh minimum. You must join a virtual power plant for two years, your vendor applies for you, and households earning under $210,000 can borrow $2,001 to $10,000 interest free. It stacks with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program (how that works), whose discount steps down over time.

In-house or subcontracted. Solartech, NIXON and South West Solar Force say they use their own staff. Everyone else: ask who will be on your roof.

FAQ

How much does solar cost in Bunbury? As of October 2026, SolarQuotes listed 6.6kW price bands for Bunbury installers from under $4,000 to over $11,000 after the STC discount (how STCs work). Reputable quotes with known brands mostly fall in the middle.

How many quotes should I get? Three, all quoting identical components: one Bunbury-based, one Busselton or Perth-group, one wildcard.

Is solar worth it with DEBS paying 2c at midday? Usually yes, because the value comes from using your own solar in daylight, and west-facing panels earn more in the 10c window.

Should I get a battery now or later? The WA and federal rebates make 2026 cheaper than before July 2025, but the WA rebate needs two years in a virtual power plant, and a battery only pays if you use plenty of power in the evening. Quote with and without one.

Which warranties actually matter? The installer’s workmanship warranty (10 years is the benchmark), then the inverter, then the panels.

What happens if my installer goes bust? Manufacturer warranties survive if the brand has an Australian office; workmanship warranties usually do not. Sunwise Energy’s website says Green Wave Solar now handles former Sunwise customer enquiries, but charges apply.

How do I check an installer is legitimate? Check the WA electrical contractor licence with Building and Energy, the SAA register and the approved retailer list.

How big a deposit is normal? Around 10 per cent. Be wary of anyone wanting most of the price before installation day.

What are red flags in a Bunbury quote? No named panel or inverter models, no mention of DEBS or the May 2026 inverter rules, payback claims that ignore Synergy’s low daytime export rate, “today only” pricing, and silence on who installs.
