We Reviewed the Best Solar Companies in Gladstone

Gladstone is a small but competitive solar market, with several well-reviewed local specialists serving the city, Boyne Island, Tannum Sands and Calliope. This guide reviews six of them: Reef Solar & Electrical, JNT Electrical, Vision Energy, Solpac Energy, RAD NRG and Solahart Gladstone. We compared years operating, installation model, published equipment and warranties, pricing signals, Google ratings and review patterns.

This is independent desk research based on company websites, the Australian Business Register, review platforms, Google Maps rating data, published pricing and the Queensland Competition Authority’s tariff determination. We did not visit any company, request quotes or interview staff, and no company paid to be included. By the end you will know who to call first, the trade-offs each company carries, what the regional feed-in tariff now pays, and what to check on your quote.

The Winners at a Glance

  • Best Overall: Reef Solar & Electrical (4.9 stars from about 240 Google reviews, widest brand range)

  • Best for Solar Hot Water Bundles: Solahart Gladstone (owner-run dealer, PV plus hot water)

How We Reviewed

We built a long list from Google Maps searches for solar installers around Gladstone, Google search results, SolarQuotes listings and our Queensland installer directory. We kept companies with a Gladstone-region base and evidence on their own sites of residential installs. We then compared reputation and years operating, equipment, installation model (where disclosed), pricing signals, warranties, review volume and patterns, and after-sales support.

Sources were company websites, the Australian Business Register, SolarQuotes listings, Google Maps rating data collected in October 2026 and the Queensland Competition Authority’s 2026-27 determination. We did not request quotes, contact companies or inspect installs, and no company paid for placement. Facts we could not verify are marked “not published”.

Choosing a Solar Company in Gladstone

Check accreditation yourself. Installer accreditation moved from the Clean Energy Council to Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) in 2024, and retailers sign up to the New Energy Tech Consumer Code. Check the installer on the SAA register and the retailer on the CEC approved retailer list. A logo is not proof.

Know the Ergon feed-in tariff. Gladstone is on the Ergon Energy network. The Queensland Competition Authority sets a flat regional feed-in tariff each year: 6.006c per kWh from 1 July 2026, down 31 per cent from 8.660c in 2025-26. The QCA warns it will change again. At that rate, using your own solar is worth far more than exporting it. See our feed-in tariff tracker.

Ask about export limits. Ergon approves every connection, and single-phase homes commonly face an export limit. Ask what limit the design assumes and who lodges the application.

Plan for heat, storms and industry dust. Ask for written confirmation that racking suits the wind region at your address, and ask about panel cleaning if you live near the port or industrial areas.

In-house or subcontracted. Solpac and RAD NRG say they never subcontract, and Vision Energy’s owner installs. Ask everyone else who will be on your roof.

Get three warranty numbers. Panel product (25 years is common), inverter (usually 10 years) and workmanship (10 years is the benchmark). Solpac and RAD NRG publish 10 years; others do not.

Weigh business age. A workmanship warranty is only as good as the company behind it. Ask how long the current company entity has traded.

Rebates. The federal STC discount applies upfront, and the Cheaper Home Batteries Program has cut battery prices since July 2025. Queensland has no general state solar rebate on top.

Compare like for like. Get three quotes with named components (our quote guide). See our top Queensland installers and the full directory.

FAQ

How much does solar cost in Gladstone?

As of October 2026, Gladstone installers that published prices on SolarQuotes listed about $6,500 to $7,000 for a 6.6kW system after the STC discount. Premium panels, three-phase homes and batteries add to that.

Is solar worth it with a 6c feed-in tariff?

Usually, if you use the power yourself. Run air conditioning, pool pumps and hot water during the day, and get quotes with and without a battery.

How many quotes should I get?

Three, for example one high-review established installer, one newer firm with a written 10-year warranty, and one battery specialist, all quoting the same size with named components.

Which warranty matters most?

The workmanship warranty, because roof leaks and wiring faults are the most common real problems. Then the inverter warranty.

Are cheap installers safe?

Only if the quote names quality components, carries a written workmanship warranty and comes from an approved retailer.

What if my installer goes out of business?

Manufacturer warranties survive if the brand has an Australian office. The workmanship warranty usually ends with the company, so business age matters.

Should I add a battery now?

The federal discount steps down over time and the feed-in tariff has fallen, so batteries look better than before, but only if you use enough power after dark.

What are the red flags in a quote?

No named models, no mention of Ergon approval or export limits, a verbal-only warranty, a deposit above about 10 per cent, and pressure to sign the same day.
