We Reviewed the Best Tesla Powerwall Installers in Melbourne

Victoria, like Queensland, now gives home batteries no state help at all. The Solar Victoria battery loan closed in 2025, so a Melbourne Powerwall is paid for by you and the federal discount alone. That makes the installer decision more important, not less: the price gap between a good and a poor quote is now larger than any state rebate.

This review is for Melbourne homeowners shortlisting installers for a Tesla Powerwall 3. We assessed Jet Solar, Total Solar Solutions, Teaslec Electrical and Solar, Lightning Energy, TCK Solar, EnviroGroup, RACV Solar and Solargain. All eight appeared on Tesla’s Certified Installer finder for postcode 3000 when we checked on 11 October 2026, and six carry Tesla’s Premium Installer badge.

Our method is independent desk research: company websites, Tesla’s finder, Google and SolarQuotes review patterns, published warranties and Victorian government and network information. We did not obtain quotes or speak to any company, and no company paid to be listed. You will come away knowing who to ring first, where each installer falls short, and which Victorian rules shape a Powerwall design.

How We Reviewed

We began with Tesla’s finder for postcode 3000, cross-checked names on Google Maps, SolarQuotes and our directory, and kept firms with a Melbourne base and enough reviews to judge. We tried to cover the east, south-east, north and west.

The criteria were years trading, brands offered, employee or contractor crews, any published prices, the length and wording of warranties, and the tone of low-rated reviews. We asked no installer for a quote and accepted no payment for inclusion.

Accreditation is something we cannot vouch for. Search the Clean Energy Council approved retailer list and the Solar Accreditation Australia register for any company you are considering.

Choosing a Powerwall Installer in Melbourne

No state battery money. Victoria has no battery rebate or loan open. The Solar Homes panel rebate is still available, but its household income cap dropped to $150,000 for applications after 30 June 2026. See our state rebate tracker.

Know your distributor. Melbourne is split between CitiPower, Jemena, United Energy, AusNet and Powercor. Ask which you are on and confirm the inverter settings are approved for that network.

Emergency backstop. Victoria’s Emergency Backstop Mechanism has applied to new and upgraded rooftop solar since 1 October 2024, so the installer must set the system up to comply.

Size for winter. Melbourne’s short winter days are the real limit. Powerwall 3 accepts up to 20 kW of panels; a bigger array helps fill 13.5 kWh in June.

Three-phase homes. Powerwall 3 is single-phase. Larger homes on three-phase should compare the BYD Battery-Box Premium paired with a Fronius GEN24 Plus, and other battery reviews, and read our phase guide.

Compare properly. Use our quote comparison guide, installer checklist, Melbourne solar companies list, the Victoria top 10 and Victorian listings.

FAQ

How much is a Powerwall 3 in Melbourne?

Roughly $15,000 to $17,000 installed before the federal discount in 2026. That discount is worth about $3,500 to $3,700 on a 13.5 kWh battery until 31 December 2026. See our battery rebate guide and battery cost guide.

Does Victoria offer any battery rebate?

No. The Solar Victoria battery loan closed in 2025.

Is it worth rushing before January 2027?

The federal certificate factor drops on 1 January 2027, roughly $1,000 less on 13.5 kWh. If your installer has stock, an early install pays.

Will a Powerwall keep my heating on in a blackout?

Usually, if that circuit is backed up: gas ducted heating needs power for its fan. Large reverse-cycle systems may exceed Powerwall 3’s output; ask for a load list.

Should I join a VPP?

Optional. Tesla’s own plan closed in September 2025. Read what a VPP is.

How do I check an installer is legitimate?

Check Tesla’s finder, the Clean Energy Council retailer list and the Solar Accreditation Australia register.

What deposit is fair?

Ten to 20 per cent, with the balance on completion.

What are warning signs?

Quotes promising a Victorian battery rebate, no site visit, or vague brand names.
